We love pets and we’d do anything for these sweet and cuddly animals, and we’re pretty sure that pet parents like you would do too! So for today’s project, we partnered with Nestle Purina Supercoat Philippines to be #CreativeTogether with the kiddos for the doggos and make cute, fun, and easy to make SUpercoat DIY Dog Collars and DIY Tog Tug Toys! Scroll down for a quick tutorial.

Tools and Materials

DIY Pet Collar and Tug Toy 2
DIY Pet Collar + Bow Tie

Step 1: Prepare your materials: old collared shirt or chosen fabric, scissors, glue gun or sewing materials.

Step 2: If you’re using an old shirt, all you’d have to do is detach the collar from the rest of the shirt, re-hem the sides, add a button on the middle and you’re done!

Step 3: If you’re making this from scratch, download and print this Supercoat collar template for you to be guided in making our DIY dog collar. Cut your fabric to size or adjust depending on your pet’s size.

Step 5: Add a button or you may also create a bow tie to match.

Step 6: To create the bow, download and print this Superocat bow tie pattern and cut your fabric to size.

Step 7: Get your larger square piece and fold the sides to create the hem.

Step 8: Fold the fabric crosswise and sew together the two sides. Pinch together the top and bottom by the center to create the middle portion of the bow. You can glue or sew this to hold it in place.

Step 9: Get your longer rectangle fabric and wrap it arund the middle of your bow. Glue down and attach to the collar.

Step 1: Prepare your materials: scissors and lots of rope/cord/fabric cut into long strips.

Step 2: Cut 4 long cords and tie the ends of one side together. The length should be at least 4 times your desired output.

Step 3: Now we’re going to make some square knots. Take the outer left cord and cross it over the two middle cords.

Step 4: Take the outer right cord and place it on top of the left cord and under the two middle cords.

Step 5: Loop it through the hole on the left side.

Step 6: Now pull tight without letting your cords twist and we have half a square knot.

Step 7: Next, take the outer right cord and cross it over the two middle cords.

Step 8: Take the outer left cord and place it on top of the left cord and under the two middle cords.

Step 9: Loop it through the hole on the right side.

Step 10: Now pull your cords tight and we have a full square knot.

Step 11: Repeat steps 3-6 until you create enough for the length of your DIY dog tug.

Step 12: Seal the end by tying them tightly together. Snip off any excess cords and we’re done.
