Step 1: Create your project on the Cricut Design Space canvas. You may choose to make use of the texts and shapes available on the software or use pre-made elements and templates. You may also opt to fully customize your designs via Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and then save it as a jpeg, png or svg file which you can upload to Cricut Design Space.

Step 2: Cut your felt sheets to fit your  chosen cutting mat. Depending on the size of your pillow, you’ll have to use either a 12×12 inch or 12×24 inch Cricut Fabric Grip Mat (pink).

Step 3Install your Cricut Rotary Blade on the Cricut Maker and start cutting your designs. Your maker is pretty user-friendly so follow the prompts you’ll see on your screen. The cut time will depend on how intricate the elements are. Make sure to choose the right settings too: “felt” under materials. Depending on the thickness of your material, you may have to increase pressure or passes. Always test before committing your fabric!

Step 4Time to cut and let the Cricut do its magic! Once all your felt cutouts are complete, you can now start assembling your pillows.

Step 5We used glue gun to attach the felt cutouts to our canvas pillows. This is a personal preferences since it dries fast and is pretty sturdy. You may likewise opt to use fabric glue. Just make sure to leave it overnight and place something slightly heavy on top to press the felt to the canvas. Feel free to sew as well if you’d like!

Step 6This is entirely optional but you may add pompoms and tassels to your DIY pillows too! Click here to see how we made them. Attach these using glue gun or sew it on and we’re done!
