Hey Kessy x Googly Gooeys Blog Giveaway! (Contest Closed)

Ever since the Happy Things blog giveaway earlier this year, people have been asking, “Where do can you buy washi tapes?”  I got that question one toooooo many times I actually wanted to put it on our FAQ‘s section!  I also get asked the same thing over and over on Instagram I actually wanted to build a separate section of Instagram FAQ’s on this site 😛

On the other hand, Mansy of Hey Kessy and I would meet from time to time to do some random arts and crafts or visit art events for fun.  I mentioned to her how much Googly readers would ask about washi tapes.  I’m pretty sure that if you’re a crafter or a washi addict like me, you already know about Hey Kessy.   Hey Kessy also sells bakers’ twine and decorative straws.  However, aside from being an online shop, Hey Kessy also aims to build a community that fosters creativity through its various workshops.  Speaking of workshops, you might want to check out the  Hey Kessy Messy Washi Party I attended last year 🙂

What are washi tapes?  Washi tapes are decorative multi-purpose tapes.  We initially wanted to show you the many uses of washi tape but you might just get overwhelmed!  So, Mansy decided to share with us how to make a washi coaster while I played photographer & calligrapher on this post 🙂

Make Your Own Washi Coaster Tutorial

How to make your own washi coaster? You’ll be needing the following:

a bottle of sealant (just mix equal parts of glue & water)

a foam

a base

your favorite washi tape!!

Make Your Own Washi Coaster Page1

The reason why you have to make sure it’s dust-free is to ensure that the washi sticks to the base neatly.

Make Your Own Washi Coaster Step 3

Make Your Own Washi Coaster: Put some washi tape on your base.

Make Your Own Washi Coaster: Flip it over & cut the excess tape

Mansy says it’s important to cut the washi tape this way so that you won’t end up having funny edges on your washi tape.

Make Your Own Washi Coaster: Spread Some Sealant on Your Washi Covered Coaster

Make Your Own Washi Coaster: Leave it to Dry

…and ta-daaaah…You now have your washi coaster!

But wait, there’s more!  (…and I officially sound like a home TV shopping host). Hey Kessy is giving away 3 sets of DIY coasters which includes a washi tape, 3 cork coasters and a foam! 🙂 To join the contest, get clicking below:

      1. Someday! And when that happens, it would look something like this…

        washify |ˈwɒʃifʌɪ|
verb ( washifies, washifying, washified ) [ with obj. ]

to make partial or minor changes to something with the use of awesome washi tapes: she gave her journal a new look by washifying it.

Yes, that’s my own definition of the word washify! 😀
