I recently had the chance to revisit my childhood: all those years spent tinkering with paper during siesta time, playing teacher and volunteering for bulletin boards all rolled into one as we got to create a backdrop and conduct a watercolor and crafts workshop for the launch of H&M’s newest line for kids!
The elements for the backdrop as well as the workshop activity palette were inspired by Michelle Morin’s whimsical watercolor illustrations as seen in the line’s bold and playful patterns.
I can’t believe the hours passed by very quickly and I’m missing seeing the kids boldly create their own pieces with their favorite colors. It’s definitely refreshing to witness these kids so curious, unafraid to experiment and so confident about their identity and preferences. May we, as adults, learn a lot from them.
This flamingo and flower activity was such a hit with the kids. We felt so energized seeing how bravely they were willing to experiment and try combining the different mediums and materials in front of them.
It was likewise fun to see how parents and their children celebrate these moments together, learning and enjoying something new.
Definitely grateful for this opportunity to have played with visuals and interacted with such vibrant spirits and exchanged stories with a lot of moms today.
Thank you Anthony Go and Anne Macachor for all the help with this project and ultimately for tolerating the amount of paper we have to scatter at home and all those times I managed to mention Elon Musk into every conversation while we were cutting paper and preparing for the workshop.
