A Very Special Day + The LG Pocket Photo Printer Review

Googly Gooeys A Very Special Day

Yesterday marked the fourth year since Ponggo proposed to me under the Eiffel Tower.  So, I posted about it on my personal Facebook account as I got trickles of likes coming in,  Ponggo sent me a message via chat saying, “Really? It’s today?” and added “Sorry! I no longer have my calendar so I don’t know anymore.” Pffftt!

P.S. Our Heima Exhibit is open until the 12th of October! Drop by Heima Brixton & get a chance to see MT Spaces. And oh, all the stuff that you see inside our tiny wooden house are up for sale too! 🙂

LG Pocket Photo Printer Launch

I would always see new Instagram printing services pop-up here and there on my Instagram feed. Just last week, I was daydreaming about having all these tiny squares (and equidistant at that) washi taped on one of our blank walls here at home.  I was also thinking about using one of our two printers at home but I was still weighing my options.  So, I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to try the LG Pocket Photo Smart Mobile Printer (a.k.a. The LG Popo) the other day. I printed my favorite photos from Instagram which you would recognize from our minion cupcake blog giveaway & the recent Heima MT Spaces exhibit.

I was under the assumption that the printer prints via wi-fi  but apparently it prints via Bluetooth which is easier because you don’t have to worry about your internet connection especially if you’re in the middle of nowhere or abroad.  All you need to do is to connect your device to the existing LG Pocket photo printer. Android users can print directly from their album while iPhone users have to download the Pocket Photo App which also allows you to crop your photo, edit it, make a collage, adjust the colors, add captions or text and put a QR (Quick Response) code on it.

The cutesy 2″ x 3″ print-outs! 🙂  The blue sheet is the one that gets printed first because the LG Popo calibrates the printer every 10 sheets.

Now, why print? As much as it’s so easy to store things digitally, it’s still different when you have something tangible especially when you’re the type who loves putting together inspiration boards and scrap books. The photos are also fun to share with friends!  Admittedly, I’m also tired of losing files to old & dying hard drives and uploading them elsewhere.  I miss having something tangible and easily accessible.

LG Pocket Printer with Googly Gooeys Print Out

Printing takes around 45 seconds and the LG Pocket Photo Smart Mobile Printer doesn’t need ink at all. It functions using the Zink technology (short for Zero ink). You just need to load it with smart sheets which comes in packs of 10 x 3. You can also use it to print your passport photos.  The retail value of the LG Popo is Php 7,000.00 and it’s Php 300 for 30 (10 packs x 3) smart sheets.

As much as a lot of us were excited to see the prin-outs, we found some points for improvement for this gadget: First, the battery only lasts 15 prints while charging time takes 1.5 hours via a USB port.  Also, the photos are not waterproof.  Then again, if you’re leaving the photos indoors, this shouldn’t matter.  We noticed that the print-outs are still comparably duller than the output of other home printers. LG Popo2 (for the blog) All in all the product is fun to use and very handy. I’d still be keeping these tiny print-outs on my wall and I would love to post more. But, as with most of the promising gadgets we buy, we will be waiting for the second generation of the LG Pocket Photo Smart Mobile Printer 🙂  Well, what do you think?  Have a look at the LG Pocket Photo Printer yourself!  We  would love to hear your thoughts about this. 😉
